Praia da Falésia Alfamar

The 6-kilometer beach features golden sand bordered by red and orange limestone cliffs, with clear waters meeting the Atlantic Ocean along the Algarve coast.

The beach received its name from the Portuguese word Falésia, meaning cliffs, due to the natural geological formations that have existed for millions of years.

Local residents regularly collect conquilhas, small clams found in the sand during low tide, maintaining a traditional Portuguese coastal practice.

Between May and October, the beach maintains lifeguard services, offers parking facilities, and provides access to restaurants serving regional seafood dishes.

In 2024, Praia da Falésia earned recognition as the number one beach destination worldwide through international travel platform rankings.
