Falesia Beach, Beach in Albufeira, Portugal

Falesia Beach, or Praia da Falésia, is a continuous stretch of sand almost 6 km long in Albufeira, Algarve. It is flanked by high cliffs in tones from red to whitish, contrasting with the green of pine groves above. At the western end the cliff is high but soft, made of sand and clay, and rain carves grooves and gullies; to the east it gradually loses height while remaining deeply eroded.

The layers of limestone and clay were shaped over millions of years through natural erosion, creating the characteristic orange cliffs. This geological process continues to influence the coast's appearance today.

The beach's name comes from the Portuguese word for cliff, and the red clay at its western end gives the sand a reddish tint. In summer, lifeguards patrol the sand and the calm water, which has no rocks, is used for swimming. The cliff-top pine grove is crossed by footpaths above the shoreline.

The beach is accessible at three main points: Olhos de Água, Vilamoura, and Açoteias, with the largest free parking area near Açoteias. In good conditions, visitors can walk along the entire stretch to explore different sections.
