Praia dos Pescadores

This beach stretches for 225 meters (740 feet) along the coast with golden sand and clear water framed by white limestone cliffs. The gently sloping seabed makes it suitable for swimming and various water activities.

This was once the main fishing base of Albufeira before a new marina moved those operations elsewhere. The shift reflects how the town transformed from a fishing village into a modern coastal destination.

The main square next to the sand hosts events and gatherings that connect visitors with local life. These activities show how the community uses this central location as a meeting place throughout the year.

The beach is easy to reach through several entry points including an escalator, pedestrian tunnels, and paths from the old town. The clearest water and most pleasant conditions occur on calm days when the sea is gentle.

During high tide, rising water separates this beach from the nearby Praia do Peneco, creating a temporary isolation. This natural occurrence reveals the dynamic relationship between the sea and the shoreline throughout the tidal cycle.
