The current structure dates from the early eighteenth century, built upon the foundations of a sixteenth-century predecessor church.
The sacred art museum inside the church maintains a collection of religious artifacts gathered from various churches in the region.
The church welcomes visitors Tuesday through Sunday, from 10:30 to 12:30 and 14:30 to 17:00, with an entrance fee of 1.50 euros.
The wooden altar contains an uncommon statue of the mutilated Our Lady of Piety, dating back to the sixteenth century.
