Praia da Oura

Praia da Oura is a beach stretching roughly 2 kilometers along the coast with golden sand framed by tall orange and yellow limestone cliffs. A wooden promenade runs the length of the shore, lined with bars, cafes, and restaurants throughout.

This beach was a quiet coastal area until the 1960s, when Albufeira transformed rapidly into a tourist destination. That growth brought modern facilities and development that reshaped the shoreline and the region.

The waterfront restaurants here serve fresh catches daily, keeping local fishing traditions alive for people who dine by the shore. You will find locals and visitors mingling at tables with open views of the ocean.

You can access the shore year-round via wooden stairs or ramps, with lifeguards present during the swimming season. Parking near the promenade is readily available, and rental equipment is offered at multiple points along the sand.

At low tide, the sand extends continuously to the neighboring Praia dos Olhos d'Agua, allowing you to walk from one beach to the other without entering the water. This connection is most visible during early morning or late afternoon hours.
