The Baščaršija bazaar features numerous copper workshops, traditional craft stores, and local merchants selling handmade items across its narrow stone-paved streets.
Established in 1462 during Ottoman rule, the marketplace grew to include 12,000 shops and became a major commercial center throughout the Balkans region.
The marketplace preserves centuries-old crafting traditions, with artisans continuing to produce copper items, leather goods, and metalwork using traditional methods.
Located near the Miljacka River, the bazaar operates from 8:00 AM to 9:00 PM on weekdays and Saturdays, with shorter hours on Sundays.
Kazandžiluk Street houses specialized coppersmiths who create and sell traditional Bosnian coffee sets, each piece hammered and shaped by hand.
