Apparition Hill

Apparition Hill is a pilgrimage site in Bijakovići featuring a steep pathway marked with bronze reliefs depicting the Joyful and Sorrowful mysteries of the Rosary. The route ascends to the summit where religious art installations are located.

The location gained international attention in 1981 when local residents reported seeing apparitions of the Virgin Mary on the rocky slopes. These reports led to the development of the pilgrimage site and its religious installations.

The site displays bronze religious artworks by Italian sculptor Carmelo Puzzolo, including detailed Stations of the Cross installations. Visitors encounter these works while walking between the reliefs depicting mysteries of the Rosary along the ascent.

The hill is accessible daily via marked pathways starting from the village and leading to the summit. Visitors should wear sturdy footwear as the ascent is steep and requires physical effort.

A marble statue by sculptor Dino Felici marks the reported apparition location, replacing the original wooden cross from the first sightings. This statue serves as a focal point for many visitors during their pilgrimage.
