Daallo Park

Daallo Park is a nature park situated on a limestone escarpment near Mount Shimbiris, featuring dense forests where trees grow to heights exceeding 30 meters. The mountainous terrain supports diverse vegetation across its expansive landscape.

The park forms part of the Ogo Mountains, where archaeological evidence reveals centuries-long settlement patterns of Somali communities. This region has held importance for human habitation across extended periods of time.

Local communities rely on plants from the forest for traditional healing practices that have been passed down through generations. These botanical resources remain an important part of everyday life in the surrounding villages.

The best conditions for hiking occur between October and March when the weather is drier. Proper preparation with suitable gear is important since the mountainous terrain can be demanding.

The protected area has been designated as an Important Bird Area hosting rare species such as the Warsangli linnet and Socotra golden-winged grosbeak. These avian residents make it a special location for birdwatchers and nature observers.
