Tanglewood Wild Garden, Botanical garden in Newbridge, England
Tanglewood Wild Garden is a nine-acre site in Newbridge featuring four ponds enclosed by native trees, exotic plants, and sections of natural woodland. These varied habitats support different wildlife species throughout the year.
The site was established and developed from 2001 onward through deliberate planting of willow and poplar trees. This initial planting strategy formed the foundation for the ecological balance that exists today.
Wooden sculptures and carvings appear along the winding paths throughout the site, blending artistic creations directly into the natural landscape. These handmade pieces invite visitors to notice the intersection of art and nature as they walk.
The site is open Monday to Tuesday and Thursday to Sunday, offering access for visitors of various abilities along its winding paths. Spring and summer months offer the best conditions for observing wildlife activity.
The grass is left to grow around four inches tall specifically to protect young frogs and toads during their vulnerable periods. Brambles and nettles are deliberately left standing for the same reason, serving as shelter and food sources for insects and other creatures.
