Leonessa, Rooftop bar and terrace in Lower Manhattan, New York City, United States.
Leonessa is a rooftop bar occupying the 16th floor of the Conrad New York Downtown hotel in Lower Manhattan. The space features Italian-inspired design with lemon trees, vibrant seating, and an Amalfi Coast-themed fountain overlooking the Manhattan skyline.
The bar opened in April 2024 following a major renovation of the Conrad hotel space. It replaced a previous rooftop establishment and brought Italian design themes to Downtown Manhattan's hospitality scene.
The venue draws from Italian aperitivo traditions where guests gather for drinks and light bites before dinner. This social custom shapes how the space is used, with cocktails and complimentary snacks creating that pre-dinner gathering spirit.
The venue welcomes walk-in guests and also accepts reservations through online platforms for better planning. It accommodates groups and private celebrations, making it accessible for different types of visits.
The venue creates an unexpected retreat high above the busy streets: real lemon trees and Mediterranean styling offer a calm escape while still being surrounded by the city's energy from above. This separation allows visitors to step away from the street-level rush without losing connection to their urban surroundings.
