The Vysočina Region spans across 6,795 square kilometers of rolling terrain in the Bohemian-Moravian Highlands with numerous forests and water bodies.
The region gained administrative status in November 2000, incorporating five districts including Havlíčkův Brod, Jihlava, Pelhřimov, Třebíč, and Žďár nad Sázavou.
The territory contains three UNESCO World Heritage sites: Telč historical center, Saint John of Nepomuk Church in Žďár nad Sázavou, and Jewish Quarter in Třebíč.
The D1 motorway runs through the region connecting Prague to Brno, while an extensive 622-kilometer rail network serves local transportation needs.
Multiple major rivers of the Czech Republic, including the Sázava, Jihlava, Svratka, and Oslava, originate from the elevated terrain of this region.
