Baxter Arena, arena at the University of Nebraska Omaha
Baxter Arena is a sports facility on the University of Nebraska Omaha campus that opened in 2015. It features two ice sheets measuring about 85 by 200 feet, a main arena with roughly 6,500 seats, and separate areas for public skating and league play.
Construction began in 2014 and was funded through donations and university resources to replace the aging Civic Auditorium. The first hockey game took place on October 23, 2015, between Omaha and the Air Force Academy.
The arena is named after a major donor who supported its construction. It functions as a gathering place where families and fans come together to watch games and participate in community events throughout the year.
The facility is easily accessible by car with ample parking nearby to accommodate visitors. Inside you will find clear signage, information desks, restrooms, and food and beverage areas available during events.
The building contains two ice sheets built to NHL size, with at least one third of ice time reserved for public use. This makes professional-standard facilities unusually accessible to beginners and recreational skaters.
