Delphic Club, Student society clubhouse in Cambridge, United States
The Delphic Club is a student society clubhouse in the Harvard area of Cambridge, Massachusetts. The three-story brick structure shows classical Georgian facade elements with columned portico and symmetrically arranged sash windows along the street front.
The organization began in 1846 as a chapter of a national fraternity and became an independent club without national affiliation in 1901. The current building has stood at this address since the early years of the 20th century and belongs to the historic inventory of the university.
The building on Linden Street displays three torches on a blue field as its emblem above the entrance. Members wear these colors at social gatherings and during annual meetings with other student organizations.
The house sits south of Harvard Yard between Massachusetts Avenue and the Charles River on a quiet side street. Visitors without membership can view the exterior facade from the sidewalk, but the interior is accessible only to members and their guests.
The interior rooms contain original wood paneling and a working fireplace from the construction period that were preserved during renovations. The upstairs dining room seats about thirty people at long wooden tables beneath exposed ceiling beams.
