Lyons Peak

Lyons Peak is a mountain summit located in the Cleveland National Forest in San Diego County, rising to approximately 3,741 feet at its highest point. An old fire lookout tower stands at the peak, built during the era when watchtowers were used to monitor forest fires.

The peak was named in honor of Captain Nathaniel Lyon, who explored this region in 1851 while searching for desert routes through California. This expedition was part of the early efforts to map and understand the area's geography.
