Odd Fellows Home District, Historic district and former fraternal home in Liberty, Missouri.
The Odd Fellows Home District is a historic area with buildings from the early 1900s in Liberty, Missouri. The structures show Tudor Revival and Jacobethan Revival architectural features and spread across roughly 36 acres with an administration building, residential quarters, hospital, and cemetery.
The original grounds were destroyed by fire in 1900, prompting the lodge to build new fireproof structures in its place. The complex grew gradually between 1900 and 1935 as different expansions and buildings were added over time.
The site was founded by the fraternal lodge to care for members in need and their families all in one place. You can see how the different buildings served separate purposes while creating a self-contained community for its residents.
The buildings and grounds are visible from outside and offer views of the entire site layout. The cemetery is part of the complex and helps you understand the community that lived and worked here.
Different architects worked on the buildings over two decades but made sure all the structures looked like they belonged together. This creates a rare harmony between structures built at different times on the same grounds.
