Worlds of Fun, Amusement park in Kansas City, United States
Worlds of Fun is an amusement park in Kansas City, Missouri, with more than 40 attractions spread across eight themed areas. Each zone carries its own name and design, from Planet Snoopy for younger visitors to East Asia with its roller coasters and water rides.
Lamar Hunt and Jack Steadman opened the park in 1973 as part of their entertainment business in the Kansas City region. Cedar Fair purchased the property in 1995 and brought new roller coasters and upgrades over the following decades.
The name comes from Jules Verne's novel Around the World in Eighty Days, and each zone represents a different country or region. Pathways lead through stylized settings like an African savanna or an Asian temple complex, decorated with characters from the Peanuts comic strip.
The park sits north of downtown Kansas City and is accessible via large parking lots. A ticket includes access to the adjacent water park Oceans of Fun, which opens during the summer months.
The roller coaster Zambezi Zinger reopened in 2023 and is the first of its kind to use GCI Titan Track technology with steel rails on wooden supports. The name recalls an older coaster from the seventies that stood on the same spot.
