Worlds of Fun, Theme park in Kansas City, Missouri
Worlds of Fun is a theme park in Kansas City, Missouri spanning roughly 235 acres with 43 attractions, including eight roller coasters and eleven water rides. The complex divides into eight themed sections, each housing rides, restaurants and shops arranged around walkways and green spaces.
The park opened on May 26, 1973 under Lamar Hunt and Jack Steadman following construction that began in November 1971. The Zambezi Zinger coaster was added in 2023, replacing an earlier version of the ride with the same name.
The themed sections of the park take names like Africa, Europa and East Asia, inspired by Jules Verne's novel 'Around the World in Eighty Days.' Each section shows landscaping and design elements that recall the respective region and become noticeable when moving from one zone to another.
Visitors can purchase Fast Lane passes to shorten wait times at selected attractions and stay at the adjacent Worlds of Fun Village campground. The park offers separate tickets for the Oceans of Fun water park, which sits on the same property.
The Mamba steel hypercoaster reaches a height of around 205 feet (62 m) and ranks among the tallest rides in the complex. The park also operates Oceans of Fun, a water park that originally opened separately and is now accessible with a combination ticket.
