Prowler, Wooden roller coaster at Worlds of Fun in Kansas City, Missouri
Prowler is a wooden roller coaster at Worlds of Fun in Kansas City, Missouri, that plunges into a ravine and threads through sections of dense trees. The track features steep drops and tight turns, with the surrounding woodland coming very close to the rails throughout much of the route.
Prowler was designed by Great Coasters International and opened in 2009, making it the second wooden coaster to open at the park after Timber Wolf, which had been running since the late 1980s. Great Coasters International was known at the time for building tracks that used the natural terrain rather than raising the structure high above the ground.
Prowler sits in the Africa-themed section of Worlds of Fun, a corner of the park that aims to transport visitors into a different world through its setting and design. The wooded trail through the ravine fits naturally into this environment, making the ride feel more grounded in nature than most steel coasters nearby.
Prowler has a minimum height requirement that is checked before riders queue, so it is worth confirming this in advance if visiting with children. The park operates seasonally, and the wooden coaster can close temporarily during heavy rain or strong wind, so an early visit on a dry day tends to work best.
Much of Prowler's track runs below the surrounding ground level, which means spectators standing at the edge of the wooded area can barely see the train as it passes. This effect is a direct result of the ravine the track was built around, and it gives riders the feeling of disappearing into the ground rather than rising above it.
