Apron Museum

The Apron Museum in Iuka holds thousands of aprons organized by their state of origin, including pieces from Canada and Australia. The collection features different materials and designs that vary widely from one another.

The museum was founded in 2006 by Carolyn Terry after she discovered vintage aprons at estate sales. This initial discovery grew into the extensive collection that fills the museum today.

The collection displays aprons from different professions such as homemakers, butchers, carpenters, and shopkeepers, where fabric quality reveals social differences. Visitors can see how various materials and craftsmanship reflected the status of those who wore them.

The museum preserves handwritten letters that accompany each donated apron, documenting personal stories. These handwritten notes provide deeper insight into the memories connected to each piece.

The museum displays aprons from the Civil War period alongside modern designs featuring Star Wars and Family Guy themes. This unexpected mix of historical and contemporary pieces makes the collection remarkably diverse.
