Sadr City

Sadr City is a large residential district in northeastern Baghdad with narrow streets, apartment blocks, and neighborhood markets. The area spreads across a wide expanse and houses millions of people living in densely connected communities.

The district was founded in 1959 to house a rapidly growing population and tackle widespread housing shortages. A Greek planner designed the layout with organized sectors to provide structured living for thousands.

The best way to get around is on foot through neighborhood streets or by local buses connecting to central Baghdad. Traffic can be heavy during peak hours, so plan accordingly when moving between areas.
