Mustansiriya Madrasah, Medieval school building in Al Rasheed, Iraq.
The brick structure stands along the Tigris River with two floors containing multiple courtyards, classrooms, and student accommodation spaces.
Founded in 1227 by Caliph Al-Mustansir, the madrasah survived the Mongol invasion of 1258 and maintained its educational functions until 1638.
The institution combined teachings from four Islamic schools of thought and included dedicated spaces for Quran studies, Hadith interpretation, and medical training.
Visitors can access the site through guided tours that explain the architectural features and historical significance of each room and courtyard.
The library once held 80,000 volumes of academic texts, making it one of the largest collections of medieval Islamic manuscripts in the world.
