Playa Chinchorro, Sandy beach in Arica, Chile.

This 1700-meter-long beach features warm waters and gentle waves, extending along the Pacific coast north of downtown Arica.

The 1868 tsunami pushed a United States vessel named Wateree inland, leaving its boilers visible on the beach as historical remnants.

The beach bears the name of the Chinchorro people, ancient coastal inhabitants who developed advanced mummification techniques 9000 years ago.

Multiple hotels, restaurants, parking areas, and exercise equipment installations line the beachfront, positioned just 2 kilometers from central Arica.

The beach maintains a constant temperature throughout the year, with annual rainfall measuring only 0.2 millimeters due to coastal desert conditions.
