Mall Plaza Calama, Modern shopping mall in Calama, Chile

Mall Plaza Calama is a shopping center on Avenida Balmaceda in Calama, opened in 2002 as Mall Calama and renamed in July 2009 after Falabella bought all its shares. Its 2011 expansion, inaugurated on 29 July 2011, doubled the built surface, added stores such as La Polar and Dijón, relocated Falabella, enlarged the parking areas and opened an AIEP educational center.

The mall was developed as the city expanded due to mining industry growth in the region. It emerged as a commercial hub reflecting the economic development of northern Chile.

The mall functions as a meeting space where local residents gather for shopping and social activities throughout the week. It reflects the daily routines and social habits of people living in this mining region.

The center offers free parking and is accessible daily during standard business hours. Visitors should expect the space to be busier on weekends than on weekdays.

The mall opened in 2002 as Mall Calama on the Finca San Juan site, and Ripley moved there from its old store on the city's pedestrian walkway. Falabella bought 100% of the shares in 2008, and the Mallplaza chain rebranded it in July 2009. The 2011 expansion, inaugurated on 29 July, added La Polar, Dijón, a new Falabella location and the AIEP education centre.
