Carhuaz Province

Carhuaz Province extends across 804 square kilometers of mountainous terrain, encompassing eleven distinct districts within the Ancash Region of northern Peru.

The province developed as a significant administrative center in the Ancash Department, incorporating both Spanish colonial influences and indigenous Quechua settlements.

The population of 45,184 residents maintains strong connections to Quechua heritage, with 73 percent of inhabitants speaking Quechua as their primary language.

The provincial capital, Carhuaz town, serves as the administrative center for government services, educational facilities, and commercial activities for all eleven districts.

The territory includes sections of the Cordillera Blanca mountain range, featuring peaks such as Pallqarahu, Pukaranra, Tuqllarahu, and Wallqan.
