Central Market Project, Futuristic skyscraper in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates
The Central Market Project is a futuristic skyscraper in Abu Dhabi standing 381 meters tall with 92 floors and a glass facade that reflects sunlight across the city. The tower houses retail stores, offices, and apartments connected by 13 high-speed elevators throughout its multiple levels.
The tower opened in 2014 and marked a turning point in Abu Dhabi's urban growth and commercial infrastructure. This project showed the city's growing ambition to establish itself as a major international trade hub.
The building blends contemporary design with references to traditional Middle Eastern marketplace concepts visible in its lower sections. Visitors can experience how these two approaches work together in the way the space is organized and used.
The building is accessible to visitors through several entrances that connect to the main public areas. Plan for longer visits during the hottest hours of the day since moving around outdoors can be uncomfortable.
The structure features sliding roofs and moveable walls that open and close to enable natural air circulation. These systems adjust with the seasons to help manage the extreme desert conditions.
