Ferrari World Abu Dhabi, Ferrari-branded theme park on Yas Island, United Arab Emirates
Ferrari World Abu Dhabi is a theme park on Yas Island dedicated to the Italian car brand, sitting under a red roof bearing the logo. Inside, more than forty rides and attractions spread across different zones inspired by racing and engineering, offering driving experiences for all ages.
The site opened in November 2010 after several years of planning and became the first amusement park in the world fully dedicated to a car manufacturer. Since then, new rides and exhibition pieces have been added regularly to reinforce the growing importance of Yas Island as an entertainment destination.
The name comes from Italian motor racing, and everywhere you see the prancing horse on yellow, the emblem of the brand from Maranello. Inside, rides alternate with exhibitions where visitors can examine engines and historic racing cars up close.
The park opens daily from late morning and closes in the evening, with exact times varying slightly by season. At the entrance, lockers and several dining areas are available where visitors can take breaks between rides.
Formula Rossa accelerates to 240 kilometers per hour (149 miles per hour) in less than five seconds, remaining the fastest roller coaster in the world. Riders receive safety goggles when boarding because the speed would otherwise strain eyes and face too much.

Alternative attraction parks around the world challenge traditional notions of entertainment by combining unconventional themes with recreational experiences. Rather than following established formulas of rides and characters, these destinations explore diverse subjects ranging from religious teachings and historical reflection to artistic expression and cultural commentary. They emerge from specific cultural contexts, historical circumstances, or creative visions that set them apart from conventional amusement parks. Examples span multiple continents and themes. Suoi Tien in Vietnam integrates Buddhist narratives with amusement park features, while Haw Par Villa in Singapore presents Chinese mythology through elaborate sculptural tableaux. Ferrari World in Abu Dhabi celebrates automotive engineering with the world's fastest roller coaster, and Grutas Park in Lithuania preserves Soviet-era monuments as an open-air museum documenting recent history. From the satirical art installation of Banksy's temporary Dismaland in England to the adult-oriented sculptures of Loveland on Jeju Island, these destinations offer experiences that provoke thought, preserve memory, or explore subjects rarely addressed in traditional entertainment settings. Each park invites visitors to engage with its particular focus in ways that differ substantially from typical leisure destinations.
The United Arab Emirates feature contemporary architectural achievements and monuments that reflect their heritage. Over a few decades, the country has developed infrastructures attracting millions of visitors: glass and steel towers redefining city skylines, international museums showcasing collections from various eras, custom-made islands spread across the Persian Gulf. Alongside these recent constructions, stone forts and mosques serve as reminders of the region's history and traditions.
This collection brings together major technical achievements that have marked the history of modern engineering. From the Hoover Dam on the Colorado, built in 1936 to produce hydroelectric power, to the ITER nuclear fusion project in France, which represents the future of energy research, these structures exemplify human boldness and skill. Each structure serves a specific purpose: crossing natural obstacles like the Brooklyn Bridge, connecting Manhattan to Brooklyn since 1883, facilitating maritime trade with the Panama Canal between the Atlantic and Pacific, or pushing height limits with the Burj Khalifa at 828 meters. These achievements are visited around the world and often offer remarkable experiences. The Eiffel Tower welcomes 7 million visitors each year who ascend to discover Paris from its 324-meter height. Shanghai's Maglev allows travel at 430 kilometers per hour thanks to magnetic levitation. The Millau Viaduct crosses the Tarn Valley at 343 meters above sea level over 2,460 meters in length. These engineering landmarks invite understanding of how industrial architecture has shaped our modern world, combining functional necessity with technical prowess that continues to fascinate visitors worldwide.
