BAPS Hindu Mandir, Abu Dhabi, Hindu temple in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.
The BAPS Hindu Mandir is a place of worship built entirely from sandstone and marble in Abu Dhabi. The facade displays hand-carved reliefs showing deities, floral patterns, and geometric ornaments spread across multiple levels and towers.
The opening took place in 2024 after several years of construction during which Indian craftsmen shaped the stone material using traditional methods. This building marks the first fully hand-carved Hindu place of worship in the Arabian Gulf region.
The complex carries a Sanskrit name referring to devotion and service central to Hindu belief. Visitors see worshippers singing together while priests perform daily rituals and present offerings before carved figures.
Visitors should cover shoulders and knees and remove shoes before entering prayer halls. The complex sits near the E11 highway between Abu Dhabi and Dubai and provides parking areas along with shaded courtyards for resting.
All stone blocks were hand-carved in India, numbered, and then shipped to Abu Dhabi where they were assembled like a puzzle. The entire structure uses no steel or concrete in its load-bearing elements and follows techniques applied for centuries.
