Jumeirah Lake Towers, Planned community near Dubai Marina, United Arab Emirates.
Jumeirah Lake Towers is a residential and office development with 80 towers in the Emirate of Dubai, grouped around three artificial lakes and a central park. The buildings are organized into 26 clusters, each with its own pathways and small public areas.
Planning began in 2002, when developers decided to create a mixed-use zone on open land. The first buildings appeared in 2006, and by 2008 many more towers were under construction or completed.
The community draws people from more than a hundred countries who live and work in apartments and offices. Restaurants serve dishes from India, the Philippines, Lebanon and Pakistan, reflecting the everyday diversity of the neighborhood.
Two metro stops on the Red Line run through the area and provide direct access to the city center. Streets inside the development are wide enough for pedestrians and lead to the surrounding lakes.
One tower stands on its own artificial island in the middle of one of the lakes, separated by its isolated position from the rest of the high-rises. The island is connected to the surrounding land by bridges.
