Eberhard Fjord, Fjord inlet in Última Esperanza Province, Chile
Eberhard Fjord is a water inlet branching off from Seno Ultima Esperanza with sheer rock walls and deep waters. The fjord sits within the Magallanes Basin formation in southern Chile.
Hermann Eberhard discovered this fjord in the late 1800s while exploring the region. His work led to the discovery of the Cueva del Milodón and remains of extinct giant sloths.
The fjord area contains archaeological evidence of prehistoric human settlements, providing insights into early inhabitants of the Patagonian region.
Tours depart from Puerto Prat with guides leading visitors through the fjord waters. Local operators provide all necessary equipment and safety briefings for water-based activities.
The fjord connects to Puerto Bories, where a cold storage facility once processed livestock products during early industrial times in Patagonia. The ruins of these structures remain visible today.
