Los Ríos Region

Los Rios Region extends across 18,429 square kilometers of land, featuring dense forests, rivers, and mountainous terrain between the Pacific Ocean and Andes Mountains.

The Chilean government established Los Rios as an independent administrative region in October 2007, separating it from the larger Los Lagos Region to improve local governance.

Indigenous communities maintain traditional practices throughout the region, while the city of Valdivia preserves German architectural influences from 19th century settlements.

The region contains two provinces, Valdivia and El Ranco, with Valdivia city serving as the administrative capital and main transportation hub.

The region's network of rivers, including the Calle-Calle and Cruces, creates a system of waterways that connects communities and supports local agriculture.
