Laguna Lo Galindo

Laguna Lo Galindo is a natural lagoon in the northern sector of Concepción, extending across a broad surface with a maximum depth of 3 meters. The surrounding urban park features walkways, parking areas, viewpoints, and green spaces for visitors.

The lagoon formed roughly 8000 to 6400 years ago through river and wind processes from the Biobío River system. These natural processes shaped the body of water over millennia, making it part of the local landscape.

Colored anthropomorphic sculptures by artist Carlos Fernández have stood on the water since 1994, depicting figures walking in different directions. These artworks shape the character of the place and invite visitors to consider movement and human direction.

The park is easy to walk through and offers sufficient parking and viewpoints along the waterside promenade. Visitors should use the established walkways, and early morning or late afternoon visits tend to be most pleasant.

The lagoon belongs to a network of seven lagoons across Greater Concepción and connects through a collector system to the Andalién River. This interconnection shows how the region's natural water bodies work together as part of a larger ecosystem.
