Laguna Lo Custodio, Natural lagoon in Concepción, Chile
Laguna Lo Custodio is a natural water body in the northern part of Concepción covering 3.4 hectares. It has a sandy bottom and remains shallow, reaching less than 1.5 meters deep in most areas.
This water body formed between 8,000 and 6,400 years ago through the interaction of river and wind processes. The Bío Bío River's movement and behavior shaped its development.
Local schools use this water body for teaching students about wetland ecosystems and conservation. Visitors can see how education programs are integrated into the natural environment.
This lagoon can be reached through multiple paths from downtown Concepción. A recreational park and multipurpose court nearby offer additional activities for visitors.
