El Castillo de las Majadas de Pirque, French Renaissance palace in Pirque, Chile
El Castillo de las Majadas de Pirque is a three-story French Renaissance palace featuring 20 rooms, 10 bathrooms, a dining room, and a private chapel. The building sits within extensive grounds covering 7.5 hectares.
The palace was built in 1907 when Francisco Subercaseaux's children commissioned architect Alberto Cruz Montt to design it as a gift for their father. The grounds were landscaped by French gardener Guillermo Renner in 1909.
The palace served as a gathering place for high society and hosted significant national occasions. Visitors can sense the spirit of those grand gatherings in the elegant rooms today.
The palace operates as a venue for events, workshops, and gatherings in five different salons. Plan your visit in advance since the space functions as an active meeting center with varying availability.
The park surrounding the palace contains more than 1,000 trees planted over a century ago. Walking through this mature woodland offers a sense of stepping back into the early 20th century.
