Los Trapenses, Residential district in Lo Barnechea, Santiago Metropolitan Region, Chile.
Los Trapenses is a residential district occupying the western portion of La Dehesa valley, nestled between Manquehue and Del Medio mountains. The area sits at approximately 920 meters elevation and connects to central Santiago through the José Alcalde Délano Avenue.
The district takes its name from a Trappist monastery that operated in this location until September 1986. The monks relocated to the Miraflores estate near Codegua after the monastery closed.
The El Tranque Cultural Center offers free exhibitions and lectures throughout the year. Sculptures by Francisco Gazitúa and Tim Scott are displayed in public spaces, shaping the visual character of the neighborhood.
The neighborhood is easily accessible via José Alcalde Délano Avenue and well served by public transportation options. Several bus routes run through the area, connecting it to other parts of Santiago.
The area is home to several prestigious private schools including Santiago College, Everest College, and Craighouse School. These institutions give the neighborhood a strong educational character.
