The Ascensor del Cerro 18 is a funicular in Lo Barnechea that connects residential areas on a steep hillside. The system moves passengers between three stations, making travel easier through a neighborhood where walking would be challenging due to the grade.

The funicular opened in 2016 and was Santiago's first publicly operated funicular system run by a municipality. It was built to help a growing neighborhood with challenging terrain become more accessible.

The summit reached by the funicular holds the Parque de la Chilenidad and a monumental statue of the Virgin, installed as part of the same municipal plan as the lift. The two cars carry 10 people each, with ventilation and an emergency intercom.

The ride takes just a few minutes and covers steep elevation changes, saving residents time when reaching their homes. It works well for people who climb the hill daily.

The two cabins each hold 10 people up to 800 kg and have ventilation and an emergency intercom. A ride between the three stations takes 6 to 8 minutes. In its first month of service the funicular carried 1,021 passengers; in March 2017 it reached 14,791.
