Abancay Province

The province spans 3,461 square kilometers across mountainous terrain, containing nine districts with Abancay city serving as its administrative center.

The region formed part of the ancestral territories of Quechua tribes before becoming an official province in southern Peru during the 19th century.

The population of 106,214 residents maintains strong Quechua traditions, with over 70 percent of inhabitants speaking Quechua as their primary language.

The province operates in the UTC-5 time zone and connects to major regional destinations through a network of roads from its capital city.

The district of Curahuasi within the province covers 866 square kilometers and maintains specialized agricultural production methods at high altitudes.
