Salcantay

Salcantay is a mountain summit in the Vilcabamba range that rises to 6,271 meters and features massive glaciers and sheer rock walls overlooking deep valleys. The terrain shifts between ice, snow, and bare rock, with exposed ridges marking the dramatic elevation gain above the surrounding landscape.

The first successful summit expedition took place in 1952 when a French-American team reached the peak. This early exploration marked the beginning of regular mountaineering activity that continues to this day.
