Temple of the Moon

The Temple of the Moon contains a ceremonial altar inside a cave with carved figures of pumas, snakes, and condors on its stone walls.

The temple dates back to the Imperial Inca period between 1438 and 1532, when it served as a religious center for lunar ceremonies.

The stone structure incorporates representations of sacred Andean animals and deities, reflecting the strong connection between Inca spirituality and natural elements.

Located 2.5 kilometers from Cusco's main square, visitors can reach the site by taxi in 15 minutes or take a public bus to Qenqo stop.

The cave features a stone altar where sunlight and moonlight enter through specific openings, illuminating designated sections during particular celestial alignments.
