The Edificio del Ministerio de Hacienda y Comercio stands on Abancay Avenue, occupying an entire block with marble-clad exterior walls and decorative bas-reliefs.
Constructed in 1952 during Manuel Odría's government, architect Guillermo Payet designed this structure with a budget of 25 million soles and a 24-month completion timeline.
The building's lobby features a mural by Teodoro Núñez Ureta, while artists Artemio Ocaña and Luis Felipe Agurto Olaya created the exterior bas-relief decorations.
Located at the intersection of Santa Rosa, Cuzco, and Ayacucho streets, the building serves as the headquarters for Peru's Public Ministry and Ministry of Economy.
The structure underwent a significant transformation when Abancay Avenue was widened during its construction, adapting to Lima's urban development requirements.
