La Casona de San Marcos, Colonial cultural center in Historic Center, Lima, Peru
The Centro Cultural de la Universidad de San Marcos occupies a complex with multiple patios, Baroque elements, and Rococo architectural features from the 17th century.
The building began as a Jesuit novitiate for San Antonio Abad before becoming the Convictorio de San Carlos and later part of San Marcos University.
The center houses ten departments including the Art Museum, Archaeology Museum, University Folklore Center, and Spain of Arts Library, each offering specific programs.
The Cultural Center opens Monday through Saturday from 10:00 to 17:00, located at Avenida Nicolas de Pierola 1222 in Parque Universitario district.
The Art Museum contains Peru's largest collection of portraits spanning from the 16th to 20th centuries, alongside contemporary and folk art collections.
