Casa Marcionelli, Historic building in Historic Centre of Lima, Peru

Casa Marcionelli was a three-story building at Jr. Carabaya 955 featuring Colonial Revival architectural elements and ornate window frames. The structure stood near Plaza San Martin in the heart of the city center.

The building was constructed in 1923 by Swiss entrepreneur Severino Marcionelli and originally housed mining company offices. It served as the Swiss consulate until the late 1940s.

The building reflects the impact of European immigrants on Lima, particularly the Swiss community's role in shaping the city's commerce and architectural character. Its ornate windows and design details show how foreign influences became part of the local streetscape.

Access to the building is limited today, as it was severely damaged by fire in 2023 with only portions of the ground floor remaining. Visitors should check local conditions beforehand, as the site may still be undergoing changes.

In January 2023, the building was consumed by fire during protests, despite extensive firefighting efforts to save the structure. The blaze left visible marks that tell a story of the city's recent turmoil.
