Sagrados Corazones - Recoleta

Sagrados Corazones is a Catholic church with a rectangular layout, six niche chapels along its lateral walls, and two neogothic towers on its facade. The building sits in an irregular position at Plaza Francia, accessed by a narrow street that follows the contours of the surrounding area.

Founded in 1606 by Friar Juan de Lorenzana, the church was reconstructed after a destructive 1882 fire that spared only its original walls. The rebuilding introduced the neogothic style that characterizes the structure today.

The interior houses religious artworks that guide the spiritual experience of those who enter, particularly the Lord of Good Hope statue representing Christ as supreme judge. These pieces form the visual and devotional core of the sanctuary.

The church is located at Garcilaso de la Vega 1131 in Lima District and receives visitors throughout the week. Keep in mind that regular services are held, so access may be limited during certain times of day.

The structure was built over an ancient Inca path that determined its unusual ground shape. This hidden architectural influence gives Plaza Francia its distinctive irregular form, adding historical complexity to the site.
