Cieneguilla District, Administrative district in eastern Lima Province, Peru
The Cieneguilla district stretches across 240 square kilometers of the Lurin River valley, maintaining natural spaces at 300 meters elevation.
Before becoming an independent district in 1970, Cieneguilla contained archaeological sites from the Itchma culture and was connected by the Inca Camino Real.
The district maintains strong agricultural traditions in the Lurin Valley, with local farmers continuing to cultivate crops throughout the year.
Visitors can reach Cieneguilla via minibuses from Javier Prado Avenue in Lima, with the journey taking approximately two hours and costing 3 to 4 soles.
The district experiences consistent spring temperatures year-round, contrasting with Lima's foggy weather and making it a frequent weekend destination for city residents.
