Área ecológica de conservación Siete Iglesias, Protected natural area in Morona-Santiago Province, Ecuador.
The ecological conservation area spans 16,029 hectares of land with elevations ranging from 1,140 to 3,840 meters in the Andean mountain range.
Established in 2006, this conservation area became the first protected territory under Ecuador's Municipal Ecological Conservation Area classification system.
The territory connects to the ancestral lands of the Shuar indigenous community, while surrounding areas house farmers who settled during the 1950s.
Visitors can explore the 7-kilometer Piamonte Trail leading to Santa Clara waterfalls or trek to Pan de Azucar mountain with certified guides.
The area contains three climate types: high mountain equatorial, semi-humid mesothermal equatorial, and humid tropical megathermal with temperatures from 0°C to 30°C.
