Sierra del Divisor Reserved Zone

The Sierra del Divisor Reserved Zone features mountain ranges rising above the Amazon plain, reaching elevations of more than 900 meters above sea level.

The area received protection status in April 2006 with 1,478,311 hectares, and later became a national park in November 2015 with 1,354,485 hectares.

Indigenous communities including Shipibo, Conibo, and Isconahua peoples maintain their traditional ways of life within the protected territories of Sierra del Divisor.

The reserve experiences a warm climate with average temperatures of 25°C and receives between 1,600 to 2,000 millimeters of rainfall annually.

The area contains extinct volcanoes with granite cliffs and dwarf forests growing on limestone formations, harboring numerous plant species yet unknown to science.
