Faro Cabo Santa María

Faro Cabo Santa María is a lighthouse and scenic viewpoint on Uruguay's Atlantic coast with a distinctive red dome and white radial stripes. The sturdy masonry structure rises prominently and offers coastal views from its elevated position.

Construction started in 1870, but a structural collapse in 1872 delayed the project significantly until its opening in 1874. The materials were shipped from Montevideo and the building was reconstructed following this setback.
