Abadía del Niño Dios, Benedictine monastery in Victoria, Argentina.
Abadia del Nino Dios is a Benedictine monastery in Victoria with stone walls, cloisters, and gardens set in the Entre Ríos Province landscape. The complex includes a school offering courses in philosophy, theology, and agricultural sciences to about 350 students from the surrounding region.
The monastery was founded in 1899 by monks from Belloc Abbey and marked the first Benedictine foundation in Hispanic America. In 1929 the establishment received independent abbey status.
The monastery bears the name of the Christ Child and reflects the religious tradition on which the community was founded. The monks work across different aspects of daily life and share their spaces with students who deepen their knowledge here.
Visitors can contact the monastery to arrange attendance at religious services or overnight stays. It is advisable to organize visits in advance since the site functions as an active monastic community.
The monks produce a distinctive liquor called Monacal made with around 73 medicinal herbs. They also make honey, gelatin, wax, homeopathic remedies, and candles that are sold locally.
