Palacio Vasallo, Municipal council building in central Rosario, Argentina.
Palacio Vasallo is the municipal administration building in central Rosario, crowned by a distinctive dome that overlooks the Parana River. Inside are offices, meeting rooms, and a legislative chamber where the city council convenes with 120 seats for representatives.
The building was constructed in 1911 and belonged to physician Bartolomé Vasallo, who later donated it to the city. In 1951, it became the seat of Rosario's Deliberative Council, where municipal representatives have convened ever since.
The palace holds a collection of artworks left by its original owner that speak to Rosario's past. These pieces remain on display and help tell the story of the city's heritage.
The building underwent major renovation work in 2017 and incorporates sustainable features including solar panels, green terraces, and living walls on its facades. Plan your visit around scheduled council sessions if you hope to see the interior spaces.
The legislative chamber features modern technology with displays showing voting results and attendance information as sessions happen. The seats are specially designed Pampa models that fold automatically, allowing the space to adapt during meetings.
