Cristo Bendicente, Religious statue in Yerba Buena, Argentina.
Cristo Bendicente is a monumental statue that stands at the peak of Cerro San Javier with one arm raised in a blessing pose. Rising to about 28 meters tall, it dominates the mountain landscape with its white marble form and outstretched gesture.
The statue was inaugurated in 1942 under governor Miguel Critto as part of a project to develop the Cerro San Javier mountain area. Since then it has become a recognized landmark of Yerba Buena and the surrounding region.
The statue displays a biblical inscription from Luke at its base expressing divine blessing. It has become a place where visitors of different faiths spend moments of personal reflection and observation.
Access to the statue is via mountain roads leading up Cerro San Javier, with parking spaces and viewing areas available. The hilltop location means access is possible from early morning until dark, with conditions being more pleasant during warmer months.
The sculptor Juan Carlos Iramain, who created this monumental work, is buried beneath the statue he designed. This unusual form of remembrance makes the location special for those who learn about the story behind the monument.
