Timoteo Navarro Museum of Art

The Timoteo Navarro Museum of Art holds more than 680 works including paintings, drawings, lithographs, ceramics, sculptures, illustrated poems, and photographs. The collection spans several exhibition spaces and displays a wide range of artistic media and styles.

The museum was founded in 1916 as part of the National University of Tucumán's Fine Arts School. It became an independent institution in 1922 and has grown into a major art center for the region.

The museum displays works by important Argentine artists like Antonio Berni and Benito Quinquela Martín. These pieces show how local and national creators explored their surroundings and society through different techniques.

The museum is open on weekday mornings and afternoons, though weekend visits are limited to afternoon hours. Plan enough time to explore the different collection areas and check current hours before visiting.

The main exhibition hall features a soaring glass and iron skylight supported by ornate wrought-iron pillars that rises two stories. This architectural feature bathes the space in natural light and creates an impressive setting for the artworks.
